With its look of a mover, this BMW X7 is intended primarily for large families, with seven seats as standard. In terms of style, BMW has made it heavy and massive. 5.15m long, 23 cm longer than the new BMW X5, the BMW X7 is also 2 cm bigger than the Mercedes GLS and 10 cm longer than the Audi Q7. The message is clear, by size, the X7 becomes the new boss of this market segment!
The double-kidney grille is now the largest ever seen on this model of the brand. The chrome headband connecting the lights widens everything and erases the sensation of height a little, even though the BMW X7 reaches 1.80 metres high.
At the back, the rear is a little less extravagant, with lights like two water drops similar to those of the 7 Series.
Inside, the dashboard offers a mix of wood, chrome and leather. As for standard equipment, the X5 served as a model, with the heads-up display coexisting with the BMW Live Cockpit digital instrumentation and the 12.3-inch diagonal touch screen sitting at the top of the center console.
Small original detail, the head of the gear stick is made of Swarovski crystal. 326 to 2,120 litres is the total trunk space offered by the X7. This competitor of the Mercedes GLS will be available with three petrol and diesel engines, all coupled with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
We will therefore find the 30d and M50d versions respectively with 265 and 400 horsepower, and the 40i variant developing 340 horsepower.
The X7 will also offer a petrol V8 462 horsepower version, but it’s reserved for countries outside Europe, because this BMW X7 will be primarily for the USA and China, who are rather fond of this kind of beast.
