Coral, a three-dimensional colored paper installation

Invited by the Montreal Eaton Center in Canada, as part of its Showcase on Art initiative, paper sculptor Pauline Loctin unveiled her work called Coral, a monumental paper installation.

Formerly known as Miss Cloudy, the artist, born in central France, has lived in Montreal for over 10 years and has collaborated with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Canadian Grands Ballet, the 'Symphony Orchestre of Montréal and Art Basel Miami.

Pauline Loctin reaches different audiences through a profound work of color as well as through work with papers, their textures and their potential.

Made entirely by hand, the artist spent over 4 months folding and sculpting the paper. The result is a work of more than 6m by 6m made up of more than 200 sheets.

An ode to marine life, Coral truly emphasizes the vulnerability of the environment as well as the limits of natural resources and life forms. Through paper and in-depth research into color, it recalls the unique value of the biodiversity of coral reefs, which protect oceanic species and fauna, in the four corners of the planet.

We meet with Pauline Loctin who describes the stages in the creation of her very first public art installation.
