“Women for Bees” at the Sarrebourg World Biosphere Reserve
In her crusade for the rescue of bees throughout the world, Angelina JOLIE is moving to phase 2. This vehicle tows 52 mysterious boxes. These are 52 hives, each containing 50,000 bees.
50,000 bees, multiplied by 52 hives, yes, that's 2,500,000 bees that have traveled 1,000 kilometers by road from Provence to take up residence in this landscape of ponds in eastern France which has been consecrated by UNESCO to the rank of World Biosphere Reserve of the South Moselle. We are in the land of Sarrebourg where the Parc de Sainte Croix is located, which with its bears and coyotes has been voted the most beautiful animal park in France by Internet users.
"According to the UN, bees polonize 71 of the 100 cultivated species in the world, providing 90% of the food."
Today, 50% of bees are under threat. Promoting the protection of bees is therefore an absolute necessity for the survival of our ecosystem. The pollination of bees is an engine of the economy, it generates 130 billion euros per year.
To meet this challenge, Angelina JOLIE has surrounded herself with ambassadors creating a global network of beekeepers. Dorothée SINGER who is currently setting up her hives is part of this first wave of beekeepers. She will watch over the health of two million five hundred thousand new bees in eastern France. It's called the "Women for Bees" program.
